In response to Dee, planning decisions are generally driven by planning law, London wide policy and local policy so politics ought not to interfere. Sometimes it does of course, generally when councillors seek to curry favour with local residents by rejecting officer advice, often to see the decision reversed on appeal to the inspectorate. Administrations can in time influence planning through changes to or intrepretation of local policy. Decisions by Tory LBHF are significantly different to those made by the previous Labour LBHF.... |
