Taken from the front page...... A group of Poet's Corner residents are calling on neighbours to band together to fight a planning application for the old Conservative Club building at 89-91 Shakespeare Road in Acton. The letter, sent to residents of Shakespeare, Chaucer and surrounding roads, read as follows: "Dear neighbour As you may know there are plans to redevelop the site on 89-91 Shakespeare road into 3x4 bed houses and 3x1 bed flats. This will involve demolishing an important 19th century house and excavating to create an underground parking area. I and other local residents oppose this development for many reasons but it’s important to formulate a plan going forward and ensure that all local views are represented. The Council have only given us a short time to respond and so it’s imperative that we move quickly. To this end I have booked the upstairs room at The Rocket pub on Churchfield Road this Sunday 9th January at 5:30pm. I really hope you can join us there to discuss this development and help formulate a strategy to deal with the developer and the Council." The planning application for this development, Ref p/2010/5165 can be found here on the Ealing Council's website. 07 January 2011 |
