You are not required to object. I was merely canvassing views of residents who may be affected by the proposals. A cornerstone of the South Acton regeneration plan was to create a liveable development with a unified sense of place between the new dwellings to the North and South sides of Bollo Bridge Road. The development at the extreme south adjacent to the overground lines is indeed 8 storeys at its highest point. Not ideal, but at least its location provides a natural separation between the rest of the estate and the railway lines, reinforcing a sense of community space. The new 9-storry proposal would effectively cut off the south side of the development from the north side and would run counter to the stated aims of the regeneration programme. The "horrible tower blocks" are being demoloished - Barrie House and Kipling Tower have gone; Blackmore is next; then Hardy Court and the South Acton Working Mens Club. The demoloishing of Barwick House and Charles Hocking House is currently subject to a consultation process. And redevelopment of the West side of the light indutrial estate is included in the overall South Action regeneration plan. That is precisely why I am objecting: why replace horrible old tower blocks with a horrible new one? The intention to lodge an objection has to be submitted to the Council Planning Committee by Monday 13 Dec. So if anyone else out there feels strongly that this proposal is out of keeping with rest of the development, please let me know. |
