| What we are seeing in Acton is the mass sale of public land to private development. I live right next door to the depot and Me nor my neighbors have had any consultation from the company though we live next to what they propose will be a building site for the next few years. The new building will be double the height of the existing depot and will be a dominant figure in the sky line of the immediate area considering everywhere else around it is at most three stories high. On the point of parking no matter what the developers say they can’t stop people who move in from buying cars, and what about their friends and family when they come to visit? The parking on deanhurst gardens behind it is already bad enough. The issue of retail units is ridiculous, what are they going to put under these blocks of flats that will be useful to anyone in the community, a take away? An off license? Another Tesco metro? Or maybe a clothes shop because Acton is just the place to go for high street fashion. What will probably be built are a bookmakers and a fried chicken shop. |
