I went to see the plans in Ealing council again yesterday. This time we got it. Thank you Alex. After looking at the plan, I have one word for it - overdevelopment. It is like trying to squeeze an oversize egg into a smaller space, it will crack eventually. This egg being the local environment including traffic. It is just too big. The new proposed plan is very similar to the old one except the top floor facing Uxbridge Road is tuck back so you don't feel it is such a high building. But it is still too high considering the narrow feel as you approach towards the Gunnersbury Lane junction from Ealing Common (there is hardly any pavements left on the north side). The roof garden at the rear is going to have this overlooking effect onto other people's windows, certainly our first floor rear bedroom. The depth of Block A ( the block with 5 storys along Uxbridge Road) is going to reduce light into my rear windows too. The junction Uxbridge Road and Gunnersbury Lane is already a narrow and busy junction, with vehicles turning right into Gunnersbury Lane always an awkward manoeuvre. Add to this an entrance and exit on this curve bit of road so close to this junction is not a clever idea in the long run. |
