"They could build the tunnels on train level and then they still have to come up the same amount of steps" Nice try, but at train level, that would only give access to platform 5, and the service to South Acton from there ceased in 1959, so that's not much good. To make your idea work, you would need the tunnel at an intermediate level between the trains and the street, in order to give access to the current four platforms, and you'd need to move the ticket hall down to that level. But there physically isn't enough headroom for an intermediate level, especially at the Bollo Lane side where the pavement is only 17 steps above the train platforms (11 up, 28 down). |
