I live very close to this junction, and cross to the tube station and back twice a day by foot; I was initially very sceptical about the new layout (especially as the whole thing seemed to appear out of no-where one night!). As a pedestrian, I still feel like I take my life into my hands each time I step out onto the zebra crossings, and I have nearly been run over several times, usually by cars turning right into Bollo Lane from Gunnersbury Lane at speed. I am sure the near constant flow of pedestrians from the tube station must aggravate impatient road users, but I also suspect some don't know you're supposed to stop at a zebra crossing to let people cross! I've had similar problems on the crossing on the other side of the station, a signal controlled crossing might be better at either place. It seems to me (and I've lived her for over three years) that the queuing traffic seems less constant than it was, but having just my feet and oyster card to get around, I can only offer a view from the pavement! |
