Before criticising others, you might at least have a better understanding of what you're talking about. Building Control is undertaken by local authorities, not the private sector. The Building Research Establishment is owned by the BRE Trust, a registered charity. No one associated with the Grenfell Tower fire comes out well from the final report, but the main reason this old building was clad was environmental, to reduce energy bills and CO2 emissions; without the cladding, the fire that started the blaze would probably not have gone beyond the flat in which it originated. The environmental regulations drove all the other negligence and buck passing, and you can't blame the private sector for them. |
