| As residents on the Goldsmiths' Acton Estate fighting a totally unsuitable and unwelcome development in Friars Place Lane, Acton. We are extremely concerned that despite over 1,000 objections from the neighbourhood and with false information having been lodged by the developer at Ealing Council, we are astonished to be faced with a Planning Committee due to consider this case on Wednesday 7th September 2011 without a single Acton Councillor involved in voting on the committee. Following the controversial application to build a housing estate lining Springfield Gardens Park when the local Councillor, Abdullah Gulaid was sidelined, an extra Acton Councillor was designated to sit on the Committee and take part in the voting. We have just seen the published Agenda for next Wednesday's Planning Committee (7th Sept) and in fact 4 out of 6 applications are for Acton properties, yet there is not a single Acton Councillor on the Committee to represent local residents. The majority of the Councillors are from the farthest reaches of the Borough such as North Greenford, Norwood Green, Greenford Broadway, Southall and Perivale - but no one representing any of the Acton Wards. As a famous American saying goes - "No regulation without representation" |
