They widen the pavements and force traffic to wait behind turning vehicles and stationary buses to cause more traffic jams and thus more pollution. In turn they hope they can say pollution levels are too high in the area and that people will get fed up of driving. Noticed how many bus stops that you'd to have a stopping bay now have widened pavements for no apparent reason, and buses causing traffic to wait behind? Unless there is a cycle path this isn't very safe for cyclists either. |
