The consultation itself is a farce, anyone can vote using any postcode in the zone, as many times as they like. So I could vote for myself and all my household and my entire street or, in fact, the entire zone if I know the relevant postcodes. So what happens if I vote no and my neighbour votes yes for me? Is it counted twice, one for yes and one for no? If I complete the form 50 times, is that 50 votes or because it's the same address does it not count? If each address is counted once, what if other members of my household want to vote differently from me? Because of these anomalies in the way it works, could the loser protest and tie up the result with endless appeals until another consultation is held, leaving the LTN's in situ until it's all sorted? From the consultation: 21% indicated that they were in favour of the schemes, 2% were neutral, while 77% were against the proposals. Approximately 8,500 households are within the area affected by LTN 25, which includes boundary roads, equating to an engagement rate of less than rate of less than 8%, notwithstanding that all responses were from residents. |
