| Count me on the opposing bench. The fairs have been there for at least sixty years, and have generally (since I was a kid) stayed for a week each time. When I was a kid they were noisy (but nothing like as loud as the "carnival"), and stank of fried onions and diesel (and my vomit, on one occasion on the "big wheel"). In around 1968, they had a high-wire performer, who wanted to take me up with her. The sequined bikini and perfume attracted me, and I can still remember being disappointed when my dad refused. On the other hand, dogs had to be on leashes in the park at all times (the exception was the old (and somewhat mad) parkkeeper's dog). So no. I vote that the fair should stay. It isn't organic, but it is free range. |
