Diana, so its your neighbours in your own block and others on your small estate who have sold to buy to let investors. Nothing to do with the Bromyard House or Prison Officer homes redeveloped by Berkeley Homes??? As to why your flats are now BTL you only have to look at the market, and watch 'Homes under the Hammer' on BBC1 weekday mornings at 10am. Relatively cheap to buy, probably quite spacious and in a good location for transport. Some may be sublet to Housing Associations for Council use as 'temporary housing' on a long term basis with advantageous terms for the landlord. Others will have amateur landlords with no idea as to how to maintain their properties (or the cost) or manage their tenants. This has been one of the downsides of Maggies Right to Buy where decent estates have gone to bad when RTB properties have gone to rental hell. Good to see that most of your neighbours are a community and that you are working to build one. When I have had Aussie tenants next door to me they have always been friendly and not a problem, perhaps I have been lucky..... |
