| Diana, I think you may have hit on the most important point when you said "people from other lands looked on with suspicion or just didn't understand." I think one can get to know one's neighbours quite well within 6 months if they are prepared to participate in British culture. However, a community will always remain fractured if it is divided into little cells of independent cultures unwilling to assimilate. |
