Diana, i think the govt had the tail end of a lease on Bromyard House, I don't know how long the remainder of the lease was on the prison officer appartments but it was the Goldsmiths company as freeholder who led to the changes you are unhappy with by deciding to sell their freeholds. Berkeley as developer achieved planning permissions. The council gained (some) affordable housing and S106 money for community infrastructure improvement. That a large number of the flats are buy to let is a result of the market. The 6 mth min tenancy and lack of any security of tenure is a leftover from legislation by the last Tory Govt, and much criticised for the uncertainty it gives private tenants.
