A sanity blip – only a blip – has just moiled and toiled its way from the dank cess pit of Ealing Parking Services to the light of day, fetid plop. The Council have finally decided to cancel the two parking tickets that their operatives so sweetly slapped on my car outside my home whilst the Acton Zone K1 parking permits overcharging scandal was being exposed.  They tell me that they sincerely hope that Zone K1 residents (and everyone in the borough), will confidently reside in the bosom of their incompetent databases and operatives forever more and that we’ll all live happily ever after. I’m still pretty livid at the time and effort it took to get the Council to see reason over the Zone K1 fiasco.  I’m even more livid when I think what all this has cost to put right. Letters and cheques to all those residents.   And when all was still clear as mud after the aforementioned, HAND DELIVERED letters all to those same residents to sort it out.  I’m sorely tempted to put in a request to Ealing Council under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to find out just how much all of this  incompetence has cost. It’s our money and perhaps it's time is was accounted for. This is money that could have been much better spent on the disabled, the elderly, schools, libraries and hospitals just for starters. Never again will I get anything in from Ealing Council and assume that because they hold all our Council Tax Payers money, they hold the high ground, they know what they are doing, they can operate their databases, they’ve done their sums and they’ve got it right. Thanks to ActonW3 Editor Clare for providing Council minutes viz Zone K1 and to everybody else whose been following the fiasco. Jeremy, have they cancelled your parking ticket delivered to you in precisely the same circs as mine? I DO hope so.  Because if they haven’t, it’s a teeth grinder and I definitely feel that FOIA request coming on! Jane
