While you can hold a negative view of Islam or any set of beliefs based on a disagreement from a moral point of view, that doesn't constitute Islamophobia. What does make you an Islamophobe is if you swallow a conspiracy theory about the identity of a murderer and then travel or encourage people to travel to a Mosque terrorising not just the occupants but the wider community. You do this despite the pleas of the families of murder children to respect their grief. Islamophobia was at the heart of the disorder that blighted our country recently. It does seem extraordinary to me that the Ealing council leader has not called this out. If part of our community is under attack it should be condemned explicitly and without any equivocation or whataboutery. |
