We don't mind just as long as the rubbish is actually collected but in many cases it is not! Recently our food waste and the neighbour's food waste boxes sat there for 1 whole week, full to the brim, a fox somehow managed to get at the contents and spill it out which had to be swept up. We have had green boxes go missing, black bags not emptied, rubbish spilled on the street but left there anyway. Streets only occasionally litter picked, rarely swept. Residents who continually leave rubbiish out on the pavement for others to trip over and which encourages vermin. Fly tipped items which are not removed quickly, landlords who decide to throw unwanted mattresses and beds in the street instead of disposing of them in the proper manner. Residents who habitually throw their beer cans into the gutter and althoug they have been reported absolutely nothing happens to stop them. This also applies to workers on building sites nearby who have been throwing their beer cans next to our garages, The list goes on and Acton is getting nearer the top of the list for the worst area for dirty streets. So unless residents change their habits I cannot see the situation changing for the better whether we have weekly or fortnightly collections. |
