How was your previous neighbourhood? Jolly and full of community spirit or grimy and miserable? This one, like most, is what you make of it. If you want to get involved with clean streets and general kemptness, why not become an Ealing Streetwatcher? Then the council are quite responsive. How about joining the Poets Corner Community Garden group or the Churchfield Community Association - both trying quite hard to improve the area. PCCG have a carol service upcoming and had a great summer party to raise funds to maintain the garden. You can find them on Facebook. The CCA campaigns on local issues from graffiti to planning and runs social events such as quiz suppers, wine-tasting, Xmas party (Nov 30th) and pub socials. www.churchfield.org Or involve yourself with the film and book clubs at the Rocket...why not go to Pass on a Poem this Thursday upstairs at the Rocket. Do you have children? There's an active PTA at Derwentwater Primary School and other parent groups. How about Streetbank? that's a local website which is good for building community contacts if you would like to do so. And luckily, you have already found this forum. Welcome to Acton. |
