I really like it because I often get itchy feet at night and considering I am only a few seconds away fromthe Station House, I very often end up popping in there on my own for a drink (specifically the Thatchers Gold which is what I used to drink back in Bath before I moved here so it brings back happy memories) As well as having a really excellent selection of drinks on tap, delicious delicious food and being an excellent venue, I have always found it to be one of the most welcoming pubs I have ever been to. I am always greated with a massive smile from all the staff and they immediately know what my name is and what I will be drinking. I never ever feel lonely when I go in there, if I am sat inside then the staff will talk to me or if I pop outside for a smoke the other smokers always talk to me. I have been there on my own many times and I very very rarely end up that way because the customers and staff will always let me join them or keep me company. I always end up having an excellent night there whether I go there with a group or not. The Rocket I tried out a few times when I first moved here and it just didn't do it for me. I always felt super lonely when I was there, I tried striking up conversation with the staff (who were polite enough but that's as far as it went) and the people around me but after a few polite nods and responses I got nothing else. The Station House wins hands down for me I'm afraid. |
