Does seem a dubious connection to make. In the 3 1/2 years I've lived in the neighbourhood, if seems if anything to have improved in its nature. There was a little blip when it threatened to go down hill but the opening of Angela Malik's and the Lavelli bakery stopped this. Depending on your view of down hill of course. I'm sure some were upset when the Albion shut, though I only visited it the once. During my time here I've lived with my girlfriend, an old uni friend, and a friend we acquired along the way. Does this count as multiple occupants? If so I'm sorry to disappoint but this is how 90% (i'm guessing!) of the under 30's live in London, and I'm sure the number will grow while the government protects the assets of the people lucky enough to have bought when houses were slightly more affordable or who picked a career that pays highly. So I really don't think this is connected and though I may misunderstand your point, and apologies if I do. Particularly in this area, with even rental prices being very high, higher than the mortgages I might add. Then even the multi-occupiers are well heeled young professionals, filling the likes of the Rocket and the The Station House, quietly wondering if they may ever actually be able to afford to live in a neighbourhood such as this. |
