The police in Acton police station are probably too busy shuffling paper round to address issues on their own front doorstep. Maybe the Met could seek some guidance from the Essex force, which increased the number of police on the beat by 6.9% simply by cutting waste: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/8243322.stm In London, a similar programme would translate to another 2,000 policeman though there's no doubt that the bleating for "we need more resources" would still continue. The Met continues to be unreformed, unresponsive, inefficient, and for some reason seems surprised at the generally low expectation of the force that most people in London have. |
