| Tashi was once a brilliant tennis player but an injury means that she now coaches her husband Art. He has won six grand slams though never the US, but is now recovering from an injury of his own and has lost his confidence. Tashi persuades him to enter a Challenger tournament in upstate New York to get some wins under his belt, but there he finds himself face to face with old friend/rival Patrick who also once dated Tashi. We move back in time to when all 3 were in juniors and Patrick and Tashi started dating. But after a blazing row, he wasn't courtside when she had her career-ending injury. Art, however, was and dashed in with help and comfort. Patrick's career has gone nowhere and he is sleeping in his car because he can't afford a hotel at the tournament. We intersperse watching the tournament final between the two men with following the lives of the 3 young people from age 18 to 31. Patrick is an unpleasant, manipulative man but we fear that he is actually Tashi's first choice above nice guy Art so who will win the final and who will end up with the girl? The tennis scenes are riveting and the love triangle always intriguing. |
