hello everyone. Four points. 1) Personally I had to stop using the gym at everyone active because I could not cope with the onslaught of loud booming pop music. I retreated to the pool where it had been agreed with management towards the end of 2014 that there would be a quiet haven of no music before 9 am. This enabled those who wanted to have an early tranquil, relaxing, calming swim to get it. It enabled those who wanted to swim with loud pop music 13 hours between 9am and 10 pm to get their preference too. 2) Suddenly, without consultation or warning about two weeks ago we get this policy withdrawn and even ear plugs and two swim caps could not block out the "boom boom" of radio station. Apparently this is a trial and a direction from head office who are under the impression that playing music all day every day is going to encourage more people to come swimming. Since it is a trial, there must be some sort of way that the company will solicit feedback. 3) If you want to make a comment about the music, it must be sent to area manager Paul Palmer. paulpalmer@everyoneactive.com leaving a comment at the desk or with the duty managers is not valid, does not count. It has to go to him directly. 4) In the meantime, Paul Palmer promised that he would show his duty managers how to adjust the volume and I believe he has done this. After nearly two weeks of noise pollution the volume has now been turned down. I would prefer no music, I mourn the loss of peace but at least it is not as stressful now as it was last week. Music is a personal taste, if I inflicted my preferences on everyone else I’m sure some people would not be happy. Why can’t we just have no music? |
