I agree and would think they might have mentioned that had it been an issue as that would have made the story more newsworthy. It's also very sloppy journalism. During the piece broadcast they clearly say that "Mr Mehdi Alavi is also it seems a driving instructor", thus linking the pharmaceutical company directly with the driving school (listen again here http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9343000/9343091.stm) but in the online article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9342000/9342976.stm) it states: "Sandwiched between two blocks of flats, the modest office is home to both Elgone Driving Academy and a tiny, unconnected, pharmaceutical company that supplies the drugs used in lethal injections." Nice little correction of a main fact after it's been broadcast to thousands of people all over the UK. I hope the driving instructor gets some sort of apology from the BBC. I'd be talking to my solicitors if I were him... |
