I've been volunteering at the Acton Food Bank for the past 18 months. I find it very rewarding. But we have seen the number of people coming each session double since last autumn; meanwhile, donations are dropping away. I know that lots of people are finding it hard to pay their own bills but if you could manage to donate a couple of tins at the supermarket when shopping, it would be greatly appreciated. It needs to be long-life stuff: tins of meat, fish, vegetarian protein; pasta & rice; tins of soup, baked beans, pulses, vegetables and fruit; long-life milk; peanut butter; breakfast cereal. we also try to give out shampoo, toothpaste, razors, loo roll, nappies and sanitary protection. If you can help, then thanks. |
