Has anyone noticed that the original plans for the High Street Entrance (included in there brochure to attract retail tenants) are very different to the finished product.... the Boots unit was supposed to be an identical replica of the left side of the entrance, and to date, they haven’t even been bothered to remove the old sign. Given the concerns many had with the architecture, the original plans at least tried to use a mix of brick, glass and steel to make the entrance stand out.... however they reverted to mainly brick and made an unpopular development even more dull; whether you were pro or anti, Ealing had a real opportunity to deliver a major new scheme which Acton High Street desperately needed as the catalyst for better things and they have totally failed again. The developer obviously finished it off at minimal expense at the detriment to those who live in the area.... If you google Acton High Street, The Oaks and scroll down you will see how it should have looked. Seriously disappointing. |
