I had an email from Julian Bell responding to questions I raised about the lack of consultation on the local implementation plan. It was to be publicised at ward forums - his words not mine. It wasn’t. Even cabinet member Binda Rai didn’t know about it and she was on the committee that passed this charade! The LIP consultation failed to even mention changes to CPZ hours or scrapping stop and shop. Just questions about 20mph zones and ‘making streets safer’. All very vague so stats can be twisted to suit the policy. Cpzs are not tools for raising revenue. If you don’t want changes then you say so and if the majority agree then the Council has to accept that. Scrapping stop and shop will just harm small businesses reliant on passing trade. This is a cynical move to maximise the take from motorists. |
