You can argue until you are blue in the face as to whether this is a good use of police resources or not, but personally I am quite skeptical about when police bring out a pile of weapons that have been handed in during amnesties etc.I would love to believe that people hand a huge amount of knives in, but I suspect that many of them are brought out of a pile of knives that the police have accumulated over the years and are put on show to make people feel like there is something positive being done about this. Meanwhile, knife crime is rocketing. Also, why do this at midnight? It's harder to see in the dark.
