| I loved the original version with Roger Rees and Felicity Kendall. I also adored her with Rufus Sewell, Harriet Walters, Sam West and Bill Nighy in Stoppard's Arcadia; a great play with a great cast. We saw it again recently. I saw a version of The Real Thing at Questors too; that was around the time Tom Stoppard and Felicity Kendal moved in together. The play was prophetic. Stoppard was interviewed yesterday in The Guardian; very interesting. Do you recall Roy Plomley, the original presenter of Desert Island Discs, saying that people would add a classical record to their list of otherwise low-brow or popular records? He would take them out for a drink and get them to confess that a brother-in-law or someone had suggested that they would look like Philistines if they didn't have something serious. |
