| As I understand it Tice bankrolled the policy of having 600 candidates to park his tanks on the Tories lawn. That set him back £300,000 but the party (strictly speaking company) simply doesn't have the infrastructure for a proper candidate selection process so basically they would take anybody willing to say they supported them who didn't have a social media profile riddled with racist comments which left very few people to pick from. They were probably having to twist people's arms to stand just to get a name on the ballot paper. The party's deficit was nearly £8million after the last election with much of the expenses placed in 'other' costs which could only really be paying for Farage's lifestyle. |
