Topic: Acton Baths Campaign Update

The council is planning to close Acton Swimming Baths as early as the 4 December 2011. Since no request for planning permission has yet been submitted to Ealing council, the aim of this campaign, and petition, is simply to persuade the council to keep Acton Baths and gym facilities open until planning permission has been approved.

We have had a fantastic response to the petition so far, which meant we were able to present a total of 1862 signatures to the Mayor at the recent Ealing Town Hall Council Meeting (18 Oct). We gave a three minute presentation to councilors, which can be viewed at the ‘Video’ link below.

As time is now very short, we are urging as many people as possible to write (or email) the key decision makers and influencers at the council, as soon as possible, to express their opinions about the proposed closure. These include:

Lucy Taylor
Assistant Director Regeneration and Planning Policy
Perceval House 4th Floor,
14-16 Uxbridge Road,
Ealing,
London, W5 2HL
Email - taylorl@ealing.gov.uk

Councillor Julian Bell
c/o Labour Group Members' Room,
Ealing Town Hall,
New Broadway,
London, W5 2BY
Email - julian.bell@ealing.gov.uk

We are also continuing to collect signatures through the paper-based petition and on-line version. If you have not done so already, please forward the link to the on-line Petition (below) to your contacts, and post it on community forums, school groups, mums groups, etc, that you are a member of.

If you would like to collect signatures using a paper copy of the petition text and signature form, or would like to contribute to the campaign in other ways, please get in touch by email (clicking on S Bradford above).

Please check the Friends of Acton Baths noticeboard, in the corridor by the entrance to the main pool, for further updates.

Thank you and best wishes.
