Good timing indeed. Not aimed at making the burden of Christmas shopping easier, I'm sure, or ploughing money back into local retailers, but, perhaps, more to do with the feel-good factor when voting starts to elect the next local government for LBE. Feel very uncomfortable about non-taxpayers receiving the cashback. Is it fair? Not in my book. Does it create good feelings amongst taxpayers? Not in my book either. I would, however, have given the disabled and the elderly of course. Everyone else, no. Sorry. However, LBE couldn't have eliminated those residents otherwise they won't get the full quota of votes will they. If the money was intended for the purposes of ploughing money back into the local retail outlets, then why not just reduce their shop rental for a month or two? No publicity in that though. |
