Myself and others do believe public meeting is required for Islamophobia as this would be more effective. One doesn’t need to be a Muslim to know about the current situation of how some people are fearing living in Ealing. The public can act as allies if something does happen again.

I too was targeted by a Jewish person 3 weeks ago when they came up to me and asked “if I knew anyone over there who could get the hostages released”. I was totally alarmed by this targeting as a Muslim and it happened  at a hate crime meeting where the police officer in attendance was told and still till this day has not contacted me. I flagged it a number of times on social media too and police once again did not response. I did after calling them was able to get a appointment for a statement to be taken, but it’s me who had to do the follow up for crime number, and the case has not got even to the hate crime department. I’ve independently done my investigation as to who the person is and shocked at what they do. Separately, people of Jewish heritage have said to me it’s disgusting what was said and done to me as a Muslim.

I sit on the Ealing Police Race Crimes advisory board and when it comes to Islamophobia crimes there is at times a different mind set amongst some police officers of accepting what Islamophobia crime is despite it being called out  by the victim as Islamophobic.
