Could anybody explain to me why it matters who I vote for in the London Assembly? I think I understand the role of the Mayor and his powers but I don't see why who gets elected to the Assembly makes much difference. The assembly members have very limited powers to override decisions by the Mayor. Are these positions just pointless highly paid sinecures?
